The Crown Chakra

#7 in the Chakra series

It has certainly been a journey getting to our final chakra. I have used layman’s terms in my descriptions of all of the chakras to make it easy to understand this incredible system of energetic centers. There are actually many, many more chakras and I may touch on a few later on. This was a basic introduction.

The Crown chakra is the 7th chakra and is located on the top, middle of your head. The Sanskrit name is Sahasrara which means thousands and is represented by the thousand petal lotus flower; each petal being an aspect of ourselves. The opening of all of the petals brings a oneness to mind, body, and spirit. You connect to something higher beyond yourself. I call it Source or the Divine. You can call it something different and that is perfectly ok! It’s colors are violet, white, and gold. The element is thought or consciousness and the mantra to chant is Om(Oohhhhmmm). The Crown represents experiencing the divine meaning of life, wisdom, and unity. The physical body areas that are connected are the muscular and skeletal system, skin, and central nervous system. The glands are the pituitary and pineal. A blockage of this chakra can cause depression, confusion, imbalance, overall poor feeling, not listening to your intuition, and a lack of connection to spirit and the world. You become tied to your thoughts and even materialism. When this chakra becomes balanced through a Reiki session, we feel more connected to our higher self, spirit, and the universe. As white light pours into the Crown during meditation for instance, it will flow freely throughout the body.

To gain balance here at the Crown, you can adopt a plant based diet, drink lots of water, or even choose a fasting schedule. Eat purple foods such as grapes, eggplant, purple potatoes, or purple cabbage. Wearing purple feels royal! Fitting for the Crown chakra!

Affirmations you can state:

I honor the divine light that shines within me.

I am a spiritual being having a human experience.

I shine the radiant, pure light within me.

I am aligned with my soul’s purpose and truth.

I openly accept spiritual guidance from a higher source.

Excellent crystals to work with for the Crown are amethyst, clear quartz, Herkimer diamond, labradorite, selenite, and apophyllite. Good essential oils to diffuse are frankincense, peppermint, lotus, and sandalwood. Meditation, breathwork, sound baths, and spending time in nature are key for balance.
